Biography

Born in Kaiserslautern - Germany, Mr. Stieghorst studied the piano and composition at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik, Karlsruhe where he received a scholarship from the « Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes ». He was also granted a scholarship from the  Wagner’s Association in Bayreuth. At the same time, he was Vocal and Instrumental Accompanist in Kiel, Karlsruhe and Berlin. From 2001-2004, he held the position of 2nd Kapellmeister at the Graz Opera

 

Among his engagements of the last season, Moses und Aron, Don Giovanni, Iolanta / Nutcracker at the Opera national de Paris and Die lustige Witwe at the Mannheim national Theater.

Next season, Marius Stieghorst will perform Die lustige Witwe and Cosi fan tutte at the Paris Opera. He will make his debuts at the Semperoper in Dreden with Die Fledermaus and at the Oper Leipzig with Die Zauberflöte and Nabucco.

 

 

Marius Stieghorst recently made his debuts at the Royal Danish Opera with La Bohème. He conducted with great success Don Giovanni on Michael Haneke’s production and of Le Nozze di Figaro on Giogio Strehler’s production at the Bastille Opera. At the Palais Garnier he confirmed his succes with the Paris Opera Orchestra with a new production of the Entführung aus dem Serail.

He performed also a new production of Don Giovanni at the Opera de Montpellier. He conducted new productions in Osnabrück and Graz including Werther, Die tote Stadt, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Zauberflöte, The Tsar’s Bride and Don Pasqual, and many revivals in both theatres: Otello, Eugène Onegin, Turandot, Tosca Ariadne auf Naxos, Tannhauser, Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte, Nabucco among others. From 2004-2008 he was conductor’s assistant at the Baden-Baden and Salzburg Festivals. He made 2 Wolrd Premiere at the A•DEvantgarde Festival 9.4, München : Rotkäppchen, lauf! and Schön, schöner, Schneewittchen and Martinu’s Mirandolina with the “Atelier lyrique” of the Paris Opera at the  MC93- Bobigny. He was assistant conductor at the Bayreuth Festival 2012 for the Parsifal production.

 

Currently Assistant conductor at the Opera national de Paris, Music Director of the Symphonic Orchestra of Orleans and Music Director of the Region Centre Youth Orchestra, young conductor Marius Stieghorst was previously Principal Conductor and Deputy of the Music Director of the Osnabrück Opera in Germany.

On concert podium, his regular engagements include the Hamburger Symphoniker, the Orchestre symphonique d’Orléans,  the Atelier de musique de Deauville, the orchestra of the Lauréats du conservatoire (CNSMDP), the OstinatO’s orchestra, the Orchestre of the Paris Opera and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. He performs concerts in Graz with the Meistersinger Vocal Competition (AIMS) and he conducts the Youth Orchestra of the Land of Schleswig-Holstein and the Orchestra of Rheinland-Pfalz. He made his debuts with the ensemble intercontemporain (Histoire du Soldat) and recently with the Vienna Symphony.

He frequently appears as pianist in recital and chamber music.

 

Marius Stieghorst regularly conducts ballet performances of the Ecole de Danse de l’Opéra national de Paris. He conducted a part of the Arop 30th anniversary Gala and took over the musical direction of the Tricentenaire de l’Ecole française de danse at the Palais Garnier and Versailles with the principal dancers of the Paris Opera.(Live broadcast for Arte TV)
