Biography

After having been the assistant to Andrei Serban and Jean-Pierre Miquel (1995-2001), Sandrine Anglade has led her career, since 1999, between the theater and the opera. In 1999, she began her career at the Opera with The Rape of Lucretia (Nantes), then Roméo et Juliette (Bordeaux National Opéra, 2000). In 2001 she started directing in theater: Marivaux’s La mere confidente, Jean-Daniel Magnin’s Opéra savon (both in La Comédie Française, Paris). Among the operatic productions that she directed were: The rape of Lucrecia (Nantes, 1999), Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel (Limoges and Angers/Nantes, 2000-2001), R. Hahn’s Ciboulette (Maastricht and on tour in the Netherlands, 2002), Cosi Fan Tutte (Tours, 2002), The Queen of Ice, a creation by Julien Joubert (the Ampitheater, Paris, Bastille 2003). In 2003, she founded the Company Sandrine Anglade. From theater to opera, with faithful collaborators all along, the company tries to play on the transgression of artistic genres, mixing in singular scenic objects, theater, music and movement. Since 2005, seven shows have been created: Moliere and Lully’s ballet-comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac (Creation at the CDN and Limoges), Angelo Poliziano’s La Fabula di Orfeo (Royaumont Abbaye, Ile-de-France Region, Geneva, Bruges), Collodi’s Le Voyage de Pinocchio (37 representations on tour in France), L’Italiana in Algeri (Limoges and Aix-en-Provence, Lille, Caen Amiens), Le Médecin malgré lui (Amiens), The Love for three Oranges (Dijon and Limoges), Carlo Gozzi’s theater piece The Green Bird (on tour in France). In 2010, Sandrine Anglade received the Claude Rostand prize for the Prokofiev’sThe Love for Three Oranges(best regional lyric show). Since 2011, she has been an Associate Artist with the Scene Nationale de Besançon, and is supported by the Maison de la Culture de Nevers et de la Nievre.
