Biography

Natalya Pavlova is a rising star in the world of Opera. She has worked under the guidance of such musicians as Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Spivakov, Teodor Currentzis, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Fuat Mansurov, Ennio Morricone, Ion Marin, Evan Rogister and Yuri Bashmet.

Her repertoire  includes the roles of Violetta La Traviata, Mimi La Boheme, Marguerite Faust, Michaela Carmen, title-role Rusalka, Tatiana Eugene Onegin, Tamara Demon, Marfa The Tsar’s Bride, Donna Anna Don Giovanni, title-role Iolanta and Nastasia Filippovna Idiot, Liu in Turandot, among other…

 Ms. Pavlova performs regularly in a series of concerts and half-concert versions of Soviet operas, including The Gadfly (Gemma) by Spadavekkia, Dawns here are quite (Lisa Brichkina) by Molchanov, Into the Storm (Natalia) by Khrennikov, Not only Love (Natasha) by Shchedrin and Orango (Suzanne) by Shostakovich. Other repertoire includes the title roles in the following mono-operas: Letter from an Unknown Woman (Unknown Woman) by Spadavecchia, Anna Akhmatova (Anna) by L. Klinchev and The Diary of Anne Frank (Anna) by G. Frid.

 Ms. Pavlova has toured performing in the USA, North Korea, Poland, Germany, Italy, England, Spain and France. In 2010 she recorded the album “The Front Roads Songs” (Dmitry Shostakovich’s arrangement) released by the Toccata Classics.

 In April 2016 Natalya participated as Tatiana Eugene Onegin at the Bulgarian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In May 2016 she became a member of the concert project of Esa-Pekka Salonen Stravinsky: Myths & Rituals performing Mavra by Stravinsky at the London’s Royal Festival Hall. In May 2016 she performed with Anna Netrebko, Ildar Abdrazakov and other world opera soloists at the festive concert “Classics on Palace Square” in St. Petersburg.  In November 2016 Ms. Pavlova has performed D. Schostakowitsch «From Jewish Folk Poetry» and in November 2017 Dvořák’s Requiem under the directions of Ioan Marin at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.

In May 2017 she made a significant debut at the Spoleto Festival in USA as Tatyana in a new production of Eugene Onegin directed by Chen Shi-Zheng and conducted by Evan Rogister. In November 2017 Natalya debuted at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg as Anna in the mono opera by G. Frid. In January 2018 Natalya made her acclaimed debut at the Teatro Regio in Turin as Liu in Turandot directed by Stefano Poda under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda. In June 2018 Natalya returned to the Spoleto Festival to sing in Atom Egoyan’s «You Are Mine Own,» a staging of Zemlinsky’s Lyric Symphony. Also she sang «German Requiem» by J. Brahms with Westminster Choir.

Ms. Pavlova graduated with honours from the Kazan Music College and the Moscow state Conservatory as a choral conductor. She is a prize-winner at the April Spring International Competition in 2003 and in 2005 and the II International Young Opera Singers’ Competition Opera without Borders in 2015.
