Belgian baritone, Nabil Suliman, studied at both the Damascus Conservatory with Galina Khaldieva and at the Brussels Conservatory with Ludovic de San. He was a member of the Opera Studio La Monnaie, and sang there Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Marcello in La Boheme, and the title role in Don Giovanni. Still for La Monnaie he sang the Village Chief in Wintermärchen by Phillipe Boesmans (Barcelona), Apollo and an Arms Herald in Alceste, Sourine in La Dame de Pique, and Svagliata and the Notary in Barbiere di Siviglia by Paisiello. Other engagements include Le Cabaretier in The Fiery Angel (Brussels), Michele in Il Tabarro (Maastricht), Bill in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Nancy and Luxembourg), Escamillo in Carmen (Festival Musiques au coeur d'Antibes, Festival Lacoste&Pierre Cardin, and Athens), Douphol in La Traviata and Falke in Die Fledermaus (Noord Nederlands Orkest), Satan in Paradise Lost by Penderecki (Wroclaw), Lord Ruthven in Der Vampyr (Rennes and Szeged), Lasky in Le Roi malgré lui (Lyon and Opéra Comique, Paris), Marquis d’Obigny in La Traviata and Boris in Moskva Tcheryomushki(Lyon), and an opera highlights concert  at the Almere Havenkom Festival (Royal Flemish Philharmonic). In the 2010/2011 season Nabil Suliman performed Johann in Werther (Japan and Lyon), Chambellan in Le Rossignol and baritone 1 in Renard (both at Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, and Québec), Melot in Tristan und Isolde (Lyon), Fauré's Requiem and Einäugige in Die Frau ohne Schatten (both in Antwerp). In the 2011/2012 season he sang Chambellan in Le Rossignol and baritone 1 in Renard (both in Amsterdam and Lyon), Thésée in Enesco’s Oedipe (Brussels), Dancaire in Carmen, and cover of Le Duc d’Albe (both in Antwerp), d’Obigny in La Traviata (Limoges and Reims). Upcoming operatic plans include Melot in Tristan (Madrid), Geolier in Dialogues des Carmélites (Lyon), Monterone in Rigoletto (Alden Biesen) among others. Concert engagements include Carmina Burana by Orff and in the Kindertotenlieder by Mahler (Damascus National Orchestra), Magnificat by C.P.E. Bach, Die Jahreszeiten by Haydn, and Händel’s Messiah, arranged by Mozart. Nabil Suliman participated in a recording for Deutsche Grammophon, singing Borov in Fedora by Giordano, with Plácido Domingo in the role of Ipanov. He is a Winner of the International Opera Competition of Toulouse (2nd Prize, 2006) and a Prize Winner of the Opera Competition and Festival with MEZZO Television (2008).
